According to Bottega, Brunello di Montalcino is widely appreciated even outside national borders as one of the finest Italian red wines. It has become a symbol of Italian “˜savoir vivre’ and hence a fitting subject for the Denise Focil collaboration, the firm said.
Encased in a beige faux leather box that recalls a vintage suitcase, the bottle features a brown faux leather label, framed by metal studs.
Brunello di Montalcino Prêt-à-Porter is a Riserva Docg, its distinctive feature being a six-year ageing period. It is produced in Montalcino, Tuscany, from Sangiovese Grosso grapes. The long-lasting bouquet has hints of undergrowth, aromatic wood, berries, vanilla and jam. The taste is described as “elegant, balanced, structured, and dry, with a long aromatic persistence”.
According to Bottega this is a mediation wine which also goes well with game, red meat, entrecôte, white truffle and ripe cheese. It is rich in resveratrol, a very strong antioxidant.
Besides the Brunello di Montalcino Prêt-à-Porter, the company will also be presenting Bottega Rose Gold at the Cannes show.
A Pinot Noir sparkling wine, Bottega Rose Gold is produced with a selection of grapes harvested in Pavese, located in the Lombardia region in Northern Italy. The vineyards are situated mostly on the hills (100-300m above sea level), where the soils are characterised by marine sedimentary with fine clays.
The grapes are handpicked and vinified at a controlled temperature. The skins stay in contact with the must for 24 hours; must and skins are then separated with a soft pressing. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of 18° C.
During the year which follows the harvest, the obtained wine goes through the sparkling process. Second fermentation in steel containers occurs according to the Italian Charmat method at a controlled temperature of 14° C and lasts from 60 to 90 days.
The appearance of the peach-coloured wine is described as brilliant with a fine and lasting perlage. The bouquet is distinctly floral with a scent of mixed berries – mainly currants and wild strawberries. The taste is “fresh, with a good acidity, harmonious, delicate and persistent”.
The pink coloured packaging is designed to evoke the look of rose gold.
Suitable for pairing with any meal, Bottega Rose Gold is said to go particularly well with vegetable oil dip, vegetarian dishes, sushi, fish and cheese. It is also a pleasant after-dinner drink, Bottega said.
