MACAU. The Nuance Group is to extend its downtown presence in Macau with a 20,000sq ft cosmetics concept store at the Shoppes at Parisian luxury retail mall, expected to open late next year.
The Temptation boutique will be among 150 stores at the new 320,000sq ft mall developed by Las Vegas Sands Corp, for which 85% of space has already been leased. Other tenants include Agent Provocateur, Moschino Couture, Cerrutti Paris, Dirk Bikkembergs, Sonia Rykiel and Cosmo Paris.
Alessandra Piovesana, who heads the Asian operations of both Nuance and now Dufry, said: “For a large cosmetics concept store, the chance to open in a premium location popular with the millions of visitors that Macau attracts each year was highly compelling.
“I believe that partnering with Sands Retail to open Temptation in Shoppes at Parisian will prove to be a highly successful strategy for our brand.”
Las Vegas Sands Corp Senior Vice President of Retail David Sylvester added: “Shoppes at Parisian will occupy a unique position in Macau’s luxury retail landscape, enabling us to appeal to a broader range of customer demographics while complementing our three existing retail properties in Macau.

“The opening of our fourth property underscores our confidence in the future of luxury retail in Macau. Retail space has been snapped up much faster than we expected, which I believe demonstrates a very positive outlook on the part of our retailer partners as well.”
The Parisian Macao hotel will feature more than 3,000 rooms as well as a wide range of food & beverage options and a replica of the Eiffel Tower. The adjoining mall will be inspired by some of the greatest shopping streets in Paris. It will be linked to Sands Retail’s other nearby malls – at The Venetian, The Four Seasons and Cotai Central – via air conditioned walkways.

Nuance upgraded its presence in Macau at the beginning of the year, refurbishing The Atrium department store and extending its contract at Shoppes at The Venetian Macao.
According to Sands Retail, the downtown retail market in Macau is booming. Total non-gaming spend by visitors was up by +12% in 2013, according to the Macao Department of Statistics, with 50% of non-gaming spend generated through shopping.
Among key Mainland Chinese visitors, 57% of total spend is made on shopping.
