The offer is available for all departing, transiting and arriving passengers through to midnight on 20 December.

The big day has arrived and celebrations have kicked off early at The Irish Village where local broadcasters Jono and Nats are hosting a breakfast show. Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO Colm McLoughlin (below) has made a surprise guest appearance.

To mark the anniversary day the Dubai Duty Free team kicked off the celebration at The Irish Village in Garhoud with the announcement of the winner of The Dubai Duty Free Shopping List radio promotion with Dubai 92 to win a AED40,000 (US$10,900) Dubai Duty Free Gift Card.

The promotion ran over the past two weeks and 11 shortlisted participants were invited to The Irish Village, along with their families for a special breakfast this morning. The then runners-up did not walk away empty handed, however, as they received consolation prizes of a Dubai Duty Free Gift Card for AED400 each (US$109) to spend next time they travel.

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas: Martin Moodie catches up with the man who started it all, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO Colm McLoughlin, and his wife Breeda on the eve of the 40th anniversary celebrations

Saluting success: Now this is what you call a store makeover – Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has launched a Royal Salute 26 Year Old Amarone Cask Finish as a Dubai Duty Free regional exclusive to honour the retailer’s 40th anniversary

The sight of car and big-prize money draws has become syonymous with Middle East travel retail over recent decades. But let’s not forget who started it all. That’s right – Dubai Duty Free.

The New Zealand wine selection caught the eye of Martin Moodie, who duly bought a bottle of the fine Brancott Estate Letter Series Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and the superb 2021 Hunter’s Chardonnay, a wine he knows well. Though not so well on this occasion as he proceeded to drop his shopping bag on arrival at the Dubai Duty Free-managed Saluting Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, turning it into Hunter’s Shard-onnay. The Brancott, he is happy to say, survived its crash landing.

Who says Kiwis can’t fly? The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman lands at DXB ready to report on the big celebrations. Moodie has been covering Dubai Duty Free’s progress for all but four of its 40 years. He was 27 when the retailer was founded. Scary, isn’t it?
