Walker’s Shortbread and Avolta highlight royal heritage with TREX Queen’s Commemorative Tin

A classic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II gives the Walker’s commemorative tin its royal character, with gold detailing adding a refined touch to the tribute

UK. Walker’s Shortbread has partnered with Avolta for the travel retail-exclusive (TREX) launch of the Queen’s Commemorative Tin at World Duty Free stores across UK airports.

Now available at an RRP of £15.50 (US$21), the limited-edition pack presents the brand’s signature all-butter treat as a giftable keepsake, designed for enjoying on the go, at home or sharing.

The golden tin celebrates royal heritage through a classic black-and-white portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II, crowned and adorned with jewellery, creating a distinctive collector’s piece for travellers and Royal Family admirers.

The assortment includes Walker’s Crown Rounds, Union Jack Shortbread and Shortbread Fingers, all made with butter, flour, sugar and salt and baked in the Highlands.

The launch highlights Walker’s longstanding Royal Family connection, with King Charles III, then Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, having opened the Aberlour factory in 2001 and Walker’s head office, Aberlour House, in 2008.

The company also received its latest Royal Warrant in 2024 from King Charles III for the supply of shortbread and oatcakes, following warrants granted by the Queen Mother in 2002 and Queen Elizabeth II in 2017.

Walker’s Shortbread Commercial Director Bryony Walker said, “Our new commemorative tin reflects Walker’s longstanding association with the Royal Household and the craftsmanship behind our Scottish heritage.

“We are delighted to partner with Avolta to offer this exclusive collector’s item to passengers in travel retail. It represents a piece of Scottish heritage and a celebration of a remarkable legacy, allowing travellers to take home a gift that is both meaningful and delicious.”

Avolta Commercial Director in the UK Eve Fifer added, “Products with a strong sense of place are an important part of the travel retail experience, particularly when they combine local heritage with a distinctive gifting opportunity.

“Walker’s is synonymous with Scottish provenance, and this limited-edition commemorative tin brings together the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship and iconic shortbread in a format created especially for travellers. We are pleased to offer it exclusively through our World Duty Free stores across UK airports.”

The launch builds on a strong year for Walker’s Shortbread, which recently received the King’s Award for Enterprise for its international trade achievements.
