En español tu dices corazón
Well, the Spanish word for heart is corazón
It’s there in every second Spanish song
I have come to learn its meaning
Why did it take so long?
The Spanish word for heart is corazón

INTERNATIONAL. Travel experience player Avolta has introduced a global charity initiative in tribute to one of the company’s and travel retail community’s most-respected executives, Eugenio Andrades.
Andrades, Avolta’s former Chief Executive Officer Operations, passed away a year ago after a long and hugely courageous battle against cancer. At the time, the company (then named Dufry) pledged to establish and name after him a programme to assist disadvantaged young people.
Today it honours that pledge.
“On the anniversary of the loss of an industry titan, our leader, colleague and friend Eugenio Andrades, Avolta launches Eugenio Andrades’ Legacy,” the company said today as it unveiled a programme to assist disadvantaged young people in his honour.
Eugenio Andrades’ Legacy will support children with neurological disabilities, a cause that the late executive was passionate about.
The programme will support projects that promote social inclusion through sports and provide necessary treatment resources to NGOs that aid those with physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities.
Eugenio Andrades’ Legacy will become a central platform for all initiatives related to children with neurological disabilities and offer guardianship for selected projects to ensure a comprehensive and sustained impact, Avolta said.
To mark the launch of the project, the company has collaborated with three organisations in Spain, Andrades’ homeland. Beneficiaries Fundación Deporte y Desafío [Sport and Challenge], Fundación Cadete and Fundación Bobath will support the comprehensive development of children and young people with additional needs, with a special focus on those with neurological diseases.
The projects will include sports activities to foster inclusion, effort and perseverance, as well as providing support in their treatments.
To be spearheaded by Avolta Chief ESG and Public Affairs Officer Camillo Rossotto, the initiative will become a part of the company’s broader Global Community Engagement Strategy.
Andrades’ wife Paula Dávila, a physiotherapist specialised in neurological pathology and caring for people with additional needs, will play a crucial advisory role. Paula is committed to continuing her husband’s vision for a more inclusive world, ensuring his legacy thrives, the company noted.
Avolta CEO Xavier Rossinyol said: “In memory of Eugenio Andrades, a cherished colleague, mentor to many and friend to countless at Avolta and the wider travel industry, we announce the launch of Eugenio Andrades’ Legacy.
“We remember with great fondness the man who loved his wife, his family, his job, tennis and Star Wars. With this initiative we pay tribute to his values and personality, striving to create lasting change for children with neurological disabilities, continuing Eugenio’s legacy of kindness and commitment. We cannot think of a better way to honour this extraordinary person who is deeply missed.”
Aside from honouring Andrades’ life and values, the Eugenio Andrades’ Legacy also reflects Avolta’s commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of people in need.
This initiative is directly linked to one of the focus areas of the company’s Global Community Engagement Strategy: Supporting healthcare for individuals with special needs through fundraising for medical care and rare disease research. ✈
