‘Crowning achievement’ – Beaucastel claims World’s Best Wine 2026 title from international wine critic

Rooted in the Rhône: Beaucastel’s 2024 flagship red reflects the estate’s centuries-old winemaking heritage

French wine producer Famille Perrin is celebrating international recognition for its Château de Beaucastel estate, named Best Wine in the World 2026 by American wine critic James Suckling.

The wine producer describes the accolade as a crowning achievement for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate and the wider appellation.

With a score of 99/100, Beaucastel’s flagship red, vintage 2024 ranked among the highest-rated wines in Suckling’s global selection.

Suckling said: “I started coming to Beaucastel in 1985, and the position of the estate, the winery, the family and their wines have always impressed me. Their wines, both red and white, are consistently outstanding and made to drink.”

Beaucastel Co-Owner Charles Perrin added, “At Beaucastel, preserving our natural ecosystem is at the heart of our work to create wines that stay true to their terroir.

“This award shines a spotlight on our appellation and validates the pioneering choices of previous generations, who have always put nature at the centre of our priorities.”

Set between Orange and Avignon in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, Beaucastel dates back to the 16th century and has built a reputation for the precision and longevity of its wines, as well as its commitment to farming practices that respect nature.

The estate has farmed organically since 1950 and biodynamically since 1970, with all 13 grape varieties authorised under the appellation grown side by side. ✈
