Aelia appoints ex-DFNI Editor John Rimmer as Deputy Director Business Development – 27/09/06

FRANCE. Leading French travel retailer Aelia has appointed John Rimmer to a new role as Deputy Director Business Development, based in Paris. Rimmer was previously Editor of Duty-Free News International, a post he left in July.

Aelia Vice President Organisation and Development Ambroise Fondeur told The Moodie Report: “We’re very excited to welcome John on board. He brings a great understanding to the business of travel retail. It also means we have a more diverse profile within our team as we seek growth in new markets. We’re an international company, and it’s interesting to have people from different backgrounds.”

He added: “One of Aelia’s big objectives is to expand internationally, so we are restructuring and strengthening the business development team. We will focus on Europe and Asia. In Europe, that means the UK, Spain, where we have a sister company, and eastern Europe. In Asia, we will explore the forthcoming tender opportunities in Seoul Incheon and Singapore Changi.”

Rimmer told The Moodie Report: “My role will be to use my experience and understanding of the trade to try to develop new opportunities for the Aelia business.”

He added: “Aelia is determined to make its mark in a highly competitive environment, and I’m looking forward to playing my role.”
