RUSSIA. Aer Rianta International (ARI) has named Michael Hennessy as General Manager at Lenrianta Duty Free, the company’s joint venture at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. Hennessy is currently Finance Manager at Moscow Duty Free (Aerofirst).
He succeeds Liam Flood who will soon take up the role of General Manager of ARI’s operations at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. In his new position Hennessy will be responsible for all of Lenrianta’s duty free, duty paid and food & beverage operations at Pulkovo Airport.
Hennessy said: “I spent a year working for Lenrianta in St. Petersburg in the late 1990s and am looking forward to moving back there. ARI has a long and very successful connection with St. Petersburg and Pulkovo Airport over the past 20 years and I”˜m delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue the great work of my predecessor Liam Flood. I’m also relishing the challenge of taking on the more varied General Manager role and working with our Chairman Andre Murov and our Director General Anatoly Shashin at Lenrianta.”
He added: “I will of course be sorry to leave Moscow where it has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with all the staff at Aerofirst over the past eight years and I would like to wish them all the best in the years ahead. On a personal level I would like to thank Adrian Donovan, General Manager of Aerofirst, for his guidance and mentoring throughout my time in Moscow. I would like to also pay tribute to our Chairman Vladimir N. Antonov and Director General Michael Dzamashvili for their professionalism and support over the years.”
ARI Group Retail Operations Director Nick Forbes noted: “Michael has been instrumental in the success of Aerofirst and it is fitting that his hard work and ability is being recognised with this promotion. We are faced with challenging trading conditions across all our business units in Russia and it’s reassuring to have such an able and experienced candidate available to step into this role. We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary at Pulkovo Airport and I wish Michael all the very best as we embark on the next 20 years.”
