Allied Domecq Duty Free gets single-minded about malt

UK. Allied Domecq today announced the appointment of Michael Cockram to the position of malt brands director.

This newly-created role represents a significant move to develop the single malt whisky strategy within Allied Domecq.

Cockram, who has considerable experience of the malt whisky category, joins Allied Domecq from William Grant & Sons where he was regional manager for the UK business. Prior to this he worked with Jim Beam.

In the new role, Cockram will report to global marketing director for Allied Domecq Duty Free, Jonathan Ashworth who commented on this new appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Michael to the team to fill such a vital strategic role in the development of our renowned and award winning portfolio of malts; Laphroaig Islay malts, Tormore, Scapa and Glendronach.”

“In this new role, Michael will work closely with core domestic markets, in addition to Global Duty Free, where his key role will be to develop a sustainable long-term strategy for these brands.”
