BRAZIL. Leading travel retail and dining player Avolta has struck a ten-year contract that builds on its long-time partnership with Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont Airport. The company has been present at the city’s second airport, which serves mainly domestic traffic, for over 25 years.

Under the new agreement, Avolta is opening an expanded walkthrough travel retail store – which will double in size – while integrating a convenience store into the space.
Separately, two more convenience stores will open. These will “support domestic business travellers with speed, accessibility and choice,” said a company statement.
Avolta Brazil CEO Gustavo Fagundes said: “Our expanded presence at Santos Dumont Airport reflects the strength of a partnership. By significantly increasing our travel retail footprint and adding two new convenience stores, we are creating a more complete offer for travellers while supporting the airport with formats that respond to passenger needs.”
Airport company Infraero stated that the expansion “reinforces the mutual trust built over more than two decades of partnership and is fully aligned with Infraero’s strategy of continuously enhancing the passenger experience at Santos Dumont Airport”.
It noted that the new space will bring greater comfort, convenience and a wider variety of options, adding that “initiatives like this raise the airport’s standards and directly contribute to strengthening regional aviation and the country’s main business corridors”. ✈
