USA. Leading travel retailer Avolta has struck a partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation to introduce a new generation of food & beverage concepts across three of the state’s busiest airports.
The programme spans island airports Daniel K. Inouye International, Lihue and Kahului, with Avolta division HMSHost set to develop and operate a range of dining and café concepts which it said will be rooted in Hawaii’s culinary culture.
The new offer will draw on collaborations with local brands, producers, chefs, distillers and brewers, with regional ingredients and locally inspired menus at its heart.

Among the culinary names involved will be award-winning chef Alan Wong, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern Hawaiian cuisine.
Avolta President and CEO North America Steve Johnson said: “These new dining options will be marquee experiences that showcase the creativity and delicious cuisine native to Hawaii with a sense of place throughout the passenger journey.”
Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen said: “We are very excited to offer travellers new food and beverage options that reflect our local culture and island lifestyle, while featuring unique flavours inspired by Hawaii’s multi-cultural heritage.
“We have been working closely with our partner HMSHost to collaborate with renowned local chefs and island brewers and distillers to develop new dining experiences that will offer local travellers familiar flavours and a touch of comfort, while giving visitors a chance to savour their island experience.”
