Avolta strikes eight-year airport duty-free contract extension in Aruba

CARIBBEAN. Leading travel retailer Avolta has struck an eight-year extension to its duty-free contract at Aruba Queen Beatrix International Airport.

The agreement builds on a 30-year-plus partnership with Aruba Airport Authority. Avolta will continue to operate duty-free stores in new terminal buildings that are planned amid Aruba Airport’s Gateway 2030 redevelopment programme.

With more than three million passengers a year, the airport plays an important role in Aruba’s tourism ecosystem and serves as a key gateway for travel between the Caribbean, North America, Latin America and Europe.

Avolta President & CEO for LATAM & Caribbean Enrique Urioste said, “This extension is a clear reflection of the strong, long-standing partnership between Avolta and Aruba Airport Authority.

“We are proud to continue our journey together as Gateway 2030 reshapes the airport. This agreement provides the stability and confidence needed to invest in innovative travel retail concepts, elevate the passenger experience and further strengthen Aruba’s position as a leading travel destination in the region.”

Aruba Airport Authority CEO Jonny Andersen said, “Gateway 2030 is transforming Aruba Airport into a future-ready gateway for our island.

“Our longstanding partnership with Avolta has been instrumental in delivering a high-quality duty-free experience for more than three decades, and this agreement reflects our shared commitment to maintaining that experience throughout the redevelopment while investing in the airport’s long-term success. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we build the next generation of commercial facilities for our passengers.”
