B2B-to-C global exclusive: Hinews interviews Yann Bozec of Tapestry and Coach in Hainan

CHINA. In a global exclusive, The Moodie Davitt Report has teamed up with Hainan Hinews Media Co, our strategic partner in Hainan, to provide dual B2B and consumer coverage of American luxury brand Coach’s tri-lateral collaboration with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) and Atlantis Sanya.

The partnership was first reported here on 17 December with an extensive follow-up yesterday. Coach and CDFG have opened a pop-up at the luxury Atlantis Sanya. Open from 11 December to 10 January, it features Coach’s dinosaur mascot Rexy, who has come to Sanya for a ‘vacation’, bringing a range of exclusive surprises to Hainan. The pop-up is designed to blend a sense of liveliness and joy in an immersive American beach-themed holiday setting.

Our coverage was complemented today by Hainan Hinews Media Co, The Moodie Davitt Report’s strategic partner in Hainan province. The two media houses have an exclusive information-sharing alliance to bring coverage of Hainan’s booming offshore duty free sector to the widest possible Chinese and international audience.

The on location coverage was hosted by Lu Tianqin, Chief TV Host of Hinews.cn Media and Head of the Duty Free Channel. It was shown on the highly popular New Hainan app and Nanhai website (Nanguo Metropolitan Daily). Ms Lu visited Atlantis Sanya to interview Tapestry Asia-Pacific President and Coach China CEO & President Yann Bozec (pictured below).

The activation is supported in-store at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay, where the Coach boutique mirrors the American holiday theme and offers an array of interactive experiences.

Bozec talks enthusiastically about the importance of the Chinese market in general and Hainan’s offshore duty free sector in particular. Noting that the company’s second key pillar of transformation is being more customer-centric, Bozec says, “We want to understand better our customers and we want to be where our customers are.

“We noticed that the partnership with Dewu [an anti-counterfeiting resale app in China -Ed] is helping us to connect with a lot of young customers. So we are also extremely happy to be here with CDFG in Hainan and we are very committed to China.”
