Bacardi announces winners of its prestigious Bartender and Chef of the Year Awards – 14/04/08

Jesus Gomez’s competition winning ‘Eureka’ cocktail


USA. Bacardi announced the two grand prize winners of its third annual Bacardi Cruise Competition at an awards ceremony held at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida last week.

Jesus Gomez of Celebrity Cruises was named Bacardi Bartender of the Year for his cocktail “˜Eureka’, and Manuel Luis Domingo of Princess Cruises won Bacardi Chef of the Year for his dessert entrée Fruit Sushi in Bacardi Raspberry Coulis.

Selected from a group of ten semi-finalists, five cocktail and five culinary winners, the two winners also received cash prizes presented in conjunction with the Marine Hotel Association.

A new addition to this year’s competition was the Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Award, presented in collaboration with CruiseCritic.com, which allowed online visitors to CruiseCritic.com to vote for their favourite competition recipes.

The Cruise Critic Choice Award winners were Suban Varghese of Carnival Cruise Lines for his entrée Herb Crusted Drambuie Soaked Tenderloin with Morel Mushroom Sauce, and Mauricio Campos of Royal Caribbean International for his Raspberry Chocolate Martini cocktail.

The winning recipes inspired by Bacardi premium products will be offered onboard cruise and ferry lines for the 2008 sailing season.
