Belvédère Duty Free gets chilly at Copenhagen Airport with Danzka Vodka promotion – 16/08/07

“Our concept was to visualize the look and feel of our unique Danish-designed brushed aluminium bottle that is so ideal for travel retail,” said Henrik Frandsen, Belvédère Duty Free Regional Director, Europe

DENMARK. Belvédère Duty Free ran its largest airport promotion at Copenhagen International Airport during the month of July – to mark the opening of the new duty free shop and to celebrate the relaunch of its flagship brand Danzka Vodka in Denmark.

“We were very pleased to be selected to decorate this area using high impact graphics and displays for our Danish-produced Danzka Vodka in its home airport,” said Henrik Frandsen, Belvédère Duty Free Regional Director, Europe.

The new duty free shop opened on 1 June. As reported, Gebr Heinemann took over the concession from long-time incumbent The Nuance Group on 1 March.

The event featured elements ranging from a huge silver-coloured “Danzka” Hummer vehicle displayed on a carpet of ice-cubes to a “chilling” Danzka bar in the centre of the duty free shop.

The Danzka Bar was customized using fan-blown cool winds to flutter paper strips over display bottles to create the look and feel of a snowy landscape. The chill effect was enhanced by display units shaped as refrigerators and crystal-clear ice cubes as well as floor graphics with ice cubes.

A sight to behold: travellers checking flight details are greeted by a Hummer vehicle as part of the Danzka Vodka promotion.

“Our concept was to visualize the look and feel of our unique Danish-designed brushed aluminium bottle that is so ideal for travel retail because it is unbreakable, light-weight and so easy to chill,” said Frandsen.

In addition to the visual feast, tastings were also offered for the Danzka Breeze cocktail featuring the brand’s CranberyRaz-flavoured vodka, now being launched in Denmark. With the purchase of any 1-litre bottle, consumers received a metal luggage tag in the shape of a Danzka bottle.

Located underneath a key Arrivals-Departures Information Board in the main airport was the Danzka Hummer, which also attracted huge crowds, said Frandsen. More than 2.1 million passengers pass through Copenhagen Airport in the month of July, the busiest month of the year.

“The entire promotion was a huge success and one that we are very proud of,” he added.
