ASIA PACIFIC. Heinemann Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd has named Bob McFadyen as Regional Director Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
McFadyen, long-time head of retailing at Sydney Airport before moving to a role overseeing commercial at Budapest Airport, will provide specialist advice to help drive the company’s travel retail business in the region.
Heinemann Asia Pacific is a 100% subsidiary of German duty free retailer and distributor Gebr Heinemann.
Heinemann Asia Pacific CEO Steffen Brandt said: “Bob McFadyen has been influential in driving the Sydney Airport business during his tenure as General Manager for Retail and Commercial Development.
“Likewise, he had served as Budapest Airport’s Director Consumer for three years and had contributed significantly to the SkyCourt Development, which has made Budapest Airport the leading airport of Central/Eastern Europe.”
Gebr. Heinemann Co-Owner Gunnar Heinemann also hailed McFadyen’s appointment. “Bob McFadyen is in the unique position of understanding the needs of airport owners, brand and duty free operators and able to harmonise these for mutual benefits,” he said. “We are very much looking forward to Bob’s contribution.”
McFadyen said: “It is a wonderful thing to be working with a company whose principles in terms of integrity, honour and commitment are aligned with my own personal philosophy.”
McFadyen’s appointment underlines Gebr Heinemann’s big regional ambitions. In April Heinemann Asia Pacific announced the appointment of Paul Topping as a Director. Topping was formerly President of Alpha Asia, and has vast experience of the region, and in particular the Indian Sub-continent.
