Britt Shop to open two destination stores at Montevideo Carrasco

URUGUAY. Britt Shop is to open two Uruguay-themed destination merchandise stores at Montevideo Carrasco International Airport in June this year.

An agreement just reached between the acclaimed Costa Rican travel retailer and airport operator Puerta del Sur grants Britt Shop a 125sq m airside Departures space and an 80sq m store in the landside Departures area.

Branded as Britt Shop Uruguay, the stores will feature approximately 70% locally sourced artisanal and craft products, including textiles, ceramics, leather goods, chocolate, ground coffee, biscuits and souvenirs.

“The development of the Britt Shop stores is part of a comprehensive plan to transform the commercial offer in the whole airport,” says Puerta del Sur CEO Diego Arrosa

Adding Britt Shop will diversify the airport’s commercial mix, commented Diego Arrosa, CEO of Puerta del Sur, the operator of Carrasco.

“The development of the Britt Shop stores is part of a comprehensive plan to transform the commercial offer in the whole airport,” Arrosa told The Moodie Report.

The redesign project aims to improve the quality and variety of the retail environment and brand representation, enhance the commercial environment for all passengers, and improve the shopping experience by using new technologies, Arrosa said.

The airport aims to achieve a doubling of its commercial incomes through the redevelopment.

Details of other commercial initiatives will be forthcoming in the near future.
