SWITZERLAND. The first Caran d’Ache shop-in-shop in a duty free area inaugurated on 1 October at Zürich-Kloten Airport reflects the company’s ambition of making the brand highly visible and prestigious in travel retail.

The new Caran d’Ache outlet joins the 20 luxury boutiques located in the duty free area in the new Airside Center, Level 1 in Terminal A. The shop-in-shop, measuring 12sq m, features all the Caran d’Ache collections of writing instruments and accessories. The 2004 limited editions in the Private Collection are the main showcase, with the “˜Mille et Une Nuits’ fountain pen as the star attraction.

During the three days of the inauguration, Caran d’Ache offered free engraving with the purchase of any of its writing instruments. The retailer, The Nuance Group, also offered some attractive promotions. Airport operator Unique Airport expected more than 300,000 visitors to the area in the three-day period.

The shop-in-shops and shop corners have been created to display all the company’s collections of writing instruments and its full range of accessories, which include lighters, leather goods and small masculine jewellery.

“Their simple, contemporary design underlines the quality of the products at the point of sale,” said the company of the outlets. “The furniture has been specially created to be highly functional as well as to project the brand image and create a strong visual impact.

“The top-quality materials and colours, including brushed aluminium, glass, and white wood and pear-tree panels, create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Some units contain glass-fronted display niches with a hexagonal shape that reflects the design of Caran d’Ache pencils and most of its writing instruments.”

New merchandising materials have been designed to coordinate with the shop-in-shop and corners. The units are easy to transport and install and highly practical for everyday use.

Caran d’Ache will be exhibiting at Stand B27, Yellow Village.
