CDFG targets technology demand with Apple Premium Partner duty-free store launch at Beijing Capital

Branded my StudiO cdf, the Apple Premium Partner duty-free store extends a format first launched at Shanghai Pudong in September, with the full Apple range available to travellers at duty-free prices

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has opened an Apple Premium Partner duty-free store in Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 yesterday (30 September) as part of the retailer’s seasonal marketing push.

The new retail space, branded my StudiO cdf, is timed to coincide with the travel surge surrounding the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, forming part of CDFG’s ‘Enjoy Duty-Free Shopping to the Fullest’ campaign.

The activation combines immersive retail enhancements, targeted marketing and operational readiness, bringing together technology, cultural elements and duty-free price advantages to create a more engaging shopping experience at China’s key international gateway.

Technology takes off with new Apple Premium Partner store

The latest Apple Premium Partner store combines immersive, hands-on technology experiences with a premium duty-free offer for departing travellers, adding to the airport’s growing technology selection.

The space translates Apple’s innovation philosophy into a minimalist, intuitive retail environment, with an open layout designed to encourage product discovery and drive engagement, showcasing the brand’s complete product line-up and accessories.

A professional service team is on hand to guide travellers through product trials and purchases, with advice tailored to travel, business and creative needs.

The products are guaranteed to be authentic and offered at competitive duty-free prices, expanding outbound travellers’ shopping options ahead of departure.

Cultural details bring the holiday setting to life

CDFG is adding new energy to Beijing Capital Airport’s retail environment through immersive, culturally inspired design that gives travellers more reason to stop, explore and shop

To enhance the festive atmosphere during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday period, CDFG has refreshed the themed visuals across its stores, blending Eastern aesthetics and Beijing’s rich heritage with traditional cultural elements and a contemporary look.

To create a more interactive experience, the retailer has added a Beijing-inspired national treasure-themed photo area, complemented by roaming panda mascots and vivid Chinese-style scenes.

Adding a souvenir element to the campaign, CDFG has introduced a limited-edition ‘Oriental Elegance’ tote bag featuring the Temple of Heaven, Great Wall and other classic Chinese landmarks.

To complement the seasonal visuals, frontline staff are wearing custom dual-festival badges and providing multilingual service throughout the holiday campaign.

Targeted offers to drive holiday shopping

Departing travellers can access multi-tiered discounts during the campaign, including CNY288 (US$43) off purchases of CNY2,288 (US$341) or more and CNY888 (US$132) off orders of CNY5,888 (US$878) or more.

Ahead of the holiday peak, the retailer has increased inventory across product categories, introduced an advance stock-up mechanism, completed safety and operational training for staff, and enhanced store traffic flow to better manage passenger volumes.

The Apple Premium Partner duty-free store has already attracted shopper interest, with Alipay users eligible for random instant discounts of up to CNY888.

The T3 store launch builds on cooperation between CDFG and Capital Airports Holdings Co., adding to the airport’s duty-free category mix and expanding its technology offer.

Looking ahead, CDFG said it will continue to leverage its brand partnerships to broaden the airport’s retail offer, enhance the shopping experience and respond to evolving passenger demand. ✈
