Changi Airport reveals exquisite collection at the second edition of World of Wines and Spirits

Changi Airport Group is inviting wines and spirits aficionados to explore this year’s exquisite line-up of rare and premium liquor at the World of Wines and Spirits 

SINGAPORE. Changi Airport Group (CAG) is celebrating the second edition of the World of Wines and Spirits (WOWS) partnership with Lotte Duty Free.

The event, which kicked off today and runs until 24 February, features a curated selection of more than 100 premium and rare expressions from over 56 brands from renowned vineyards and distilleries.

Throughout this period, the curated selections are available for purchase on the WOWS online portal.

The extensive e-catalogue includes rare editions from globally renowned labels such as The Macallan, Bowmore, Martell and Hennessy.

For a personalised experience, Changi Airport offers shopping concierge services to those who have indicated an interest in an item. The airport company will reach out to them for queries, payment and collection or local delivery.

Changi Airport is also inviting VIP guests from Changi Rewards, Lotte and other Changi Partners to its exclusive WOWS signature event on 28 October at Capitol Theatre. The exclusive event includes a gala dinner, where guests can enjoy food prepared by Michelin-starred chefs.

For the first time, the public can also attend the invitation-only WOWS signature event, allowing them to interact with brand ambassadors and enjoy special drinks and canapés from Michelin-starred restaurants.

To qualify for an invitation to the prestigious WOWS signature event (subject to availability), customers must make a minimum purchase of SGD$10,000 (US$7,300) from the WOWS online portal.

Limited tickets are also available for SGD$800 (US$580) through Changi Shopping Concierge via WhatsApp Chat at +65 9725 3459.

Wines and spirits aficionados can look forward to these highlights, alongside more than 100 of the finest liquor products on the WOWS online portal. The selections include first-in-the-world rare whiskies and aged cognacs.

The Macallan 72 Year Old in Lalique – The Genesis Decanter

The Macallan 72 Year Old in Lalique – The Genesis Decanter represents a collaboration of masters from fields such as whisky, crystal, architecture, construction and craftsmanship.

This rare whisky is presented in a bespoke crystal decanter, which is housed in a case that reflects the architectural complexity of The Macallan’s home.

Only 600 individually numbered decanters are available worldwide at select locations since late 2018.

This golden-amber whisky offers a delicate aroma that blends peat and aged oak smoke, with refreshing notes of citrus and green apples, with a background of vanilla pods and raisins, accentuated by a hint of ginger. Its palate is a combination of delicate peat smoke, soft vanilla and a surprising sweet oak smoke, and gentle wood spice that fades into a mouth-coating of citrus fruits and green apples.

Only one bottle is available at WOWS for SGD$112,000 (US$82,000).

Bowmore1965 Precious Metals

Beam Suntory’s limited-edition Bowmore 1965 Precious Metals is another offer exclusive to the World of Wines and Spirits. The expression is designed by master craftsman John Galvin  exclusively to Global Travel Retail.

Only two individual presentation boxes are available which pay homage to craftsmanship the distillery’s legacy.

Each of the two bottles are available at an RRSP of SG$77,500 (US$56,800), with each individual box being a bespoke collectable and artifact capturing over 240 years of heritage. The bottle will also be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and numbered to preserve their rarity.

This is the last release of Bowmore 1965, with only of 232 bottles produced worldwide.

Martell 70 Year Old Grande Champagne

The WOWS product line-up also includes Martell 70 Year Old Grande Champagne – one of the oldest and prized collections of eaux-de-vie by Maison Martell, the oldest of the great cognac houses.

Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud has selected just one of these exceptional eaux-de-vie to be released as a rare limited edition.

It is a product of the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir, which is renowned for the richness, power and ageing potential of its eaux-de-vie.

This expression is being released in an exclusive edition of just 70 hand-crafted, numbered decanters. The decanter was designed 70 years ago by Baccarat, one of France’s most revered crystal manufacturers.

Only one bottle is available at WOWS and it retails for SGD$35,000 (US$25,600).

Hennessy Paradis Bernardaud

Created by Maurice Fillioux in 1979, the Cognac Hennessy Paradis is known for its voluptuous and harmonious aroma. It is crafted using the maison’s finest and precious eaux-de-vie and is described as supple, light and round.

The liquid is characterised by a balanced and silky blend.

It features coppery gold colours – reflecting the many years it has spent ageing in old casks.

Hennessy collaborated with Chinese contemporary painter Yang Yong Liang and French porcelain boutique Maison Bernardaud to design its limited-edition Year of the Dragon decanter.

Only one bottle is available at WOWS for SGD$13,250 (US$9,700).

Michelin-starred, Eight Hands, One-Night-Only Feast

Changi Airport Group has invited four renowned chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants to prepare an exquisite menu for its WOWS signature event.

The chefs – Dave Pynt (Burnt Ends), Ivan Brehm (Nouri), Michael Wilson (Marguerite) and Rishi Naleendra (Cloudstreet) – are from hospitality and F&B group Unlisted Collection.

Inspired by four different countries across continents, every canapé served at the event is specially created to match with a selected fine wine or spirit from WOWS’ esteemed partners.

The event will include artistic performances and other immersive experiences.

In the days leading up to the signature event, WOWS will also host a series of masterclasses led by industry experts from The Macallan, Bowmore, Martell and Hennessy. ✈
