Airport experiences, loyalty and customer engagement specialist Collinson, owner and operator of Priority Pass, has partnered with insurance provider Cathay Life to extend its SmartDelay benefit to eligible travel insurance policyholders in Taiwan.

The partnership enables customers purchasing overseas travel insurance online with premiums of NT$1,000 (US$31) or more to receive complimentary access to more than 1,800 airport lounges and travel experiences worldwide if flights are delayed or cancelled.
The benefit covers up to two flights on a return journey. Policyholders receive an activation code to pre-register their flights at least 24 hours before departure, with no additional enrolment or claims forms required.
Cathay Life policyholders whose flights are delayed by more than 60 minutes or cancelled will automatically receive a digital voucher granting access to an airport lounge or travel experience, including spa services, sleep pods or dining.

Each voucher is valid for a single redemption within three months and can be used on a future journey. It also includes complimentary access for up to three companions to participating airport lounges or travel experiences.
The partnership comes in response to the growing incidence of flight disruptions as travel demand increases.
Official figures reveal that nearly 40,000 travellers in Taiwan experienced flight cancellations or delays exceeding one hour in the first half of 2026, with close to 60% delayed by one to two hours.
As flight disruptions can result in longer airport waiting times, access to airport lounges and other passenger amenities has become a consideration for travellers, Collinson said. The company’s Tomorrow’s Journey: Smarter, Faster, Connected report found that 80% of APAC travellers have visited an airport lounge at least once.

Collinson International Managing Director for North Asia Ian Lee said, “As global airspace constraints and rising passenger volumes continue to put pressure on the aviation sector, travellers are placing greater value on solutions that support them through moments of disruption.
“Through our partnership with Cathay Life, we are delighted to offer SmartDelay to their eligible policyholders, providing greater peace of mind in the event of a flight delay or cancellation.”
Cathay Life President Lin Chao-ting added, “Our priority is to equip policyholders with comprehensive, modern protection that goes beyond traditional insurance coverage.
“Given the current complexities facing global air travel, we recognise that flight disruptions have become a growing source of uncertainty for travellers.
“Through our collaboration with Collinson International, our customers can access a robust portfolio of airport lounges and travel experiences worldwide. This enables us to deliver comfort, convenience and reassurance when it matters most.” ✈
