UK. Ferry operator Condor Ferries is set to launch digital product sampling stations for passengers onboard its ferries.
The sampling stations, which will be located outside the duty free shops on Condor Ferries’ ships, will enable passengers to try products before buying.

Sampling trials will start on Valentine’s Day (14 February) with the recently launched Bailey’s Chocolat Luxe. Condor Ferries Onboard Services Marketing Manager Michelle Leicester said: “Bailey’s Chocolate Luxe is an exciting new innovation; ideal for sampling as it’s an indulgent multi-sensory experience.”
The sampling units are said to be designed to engage passengers with animations and interactive product content loaded onto iPads. There are also areas for storage and display as well as magnetic graphic panels for product branding.
Leicester added: “As part of our leisure and entertainment strategy, we wanted a sampling solution that engaged our guests onboard through interactive touch screen technology, as well as eye-catching graphics. The process took time but we are delighted with the end result and look forward to rolling out an ambitious calendar of sampling and product demonstrations across the fleet in 2014.”
Condor Ferries plans to work in partnership with suppliers to ensure that staff are well trained and supported to represent the brands and ultimately increase sales.
