IRELAND. Coole Swan, positioned as Ireland’s first premium cream liqueur, has won the “˜Best of Show Liqueur’ award in the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Coole Swan is the first ever cream liqueur to receive this coveted award, according to the company. Coole Swan was also bestowed a “˜Double Gold’ medal for excellence.

Some of the most influential spirit industry professionals in the US gathered at San Francisco’s Hotel Nikko to rank the world’s best spirits on 21 and 22 March. This year 876 spirits were submitted and evaluated from over 60 countries.
The experts evaluated over 100 liqueurs before judging Coole Swan the “˜World’s Best Liqueur’ and awarding Double Gold. Coole Swan now joins the ranks of previous winners which include Grand Marnier, Chartreuse and St Germain Liqueur.
“When we set out, our aim was simple,” explained Coole Swan Managing Director David Phelan. “We wanted to produce the most delicious tasting cream liqueur by simply using the best ingredients that Ireland could offer.”

Phelan added: “Fresh double Irish cream is combined with the softest, most rounded sngle malt Irish whiskey. Unlike any other Irish cream liqueur, real chocolate is gently melted into the cream resulting in a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth experience.
“The liquid is further complemented by infusions of the finest Bourbon-style Madagascan vanilla and rich, dark, bittersweet cocoa from the Côte D’Ivoire. We are delighted that this world-renowned panel of experts, in awarding us this accolade, endorse our simple aim,” he enthused.
These two awards are the latest on the list of accolades won by Coole Swan since its inception. Others include: 5 Star Supreme Rating – BevX.com; 5 Star Highest Recommendation – Paul Pacult, Spirit Journal 2008; Great Taste Awards 2008 – Gold & Top Award Winner, Special Merit Award, Bord Bia, Irish Food & Drink Awards 2007.
