Copenhagen Airport to showcase Danish style during fashion week

A pop-up Fashion Lounge at Copenhagen Airport with the theme “Fashion Your Way” will focus on Danish design and fashion during Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen Airport is set to stage its own celebration of fashion and design during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Six Danish fashion icons will present their personal styles at a temporary Fashion Lounge in Copenhagen Airport Shopping Centre from 22 January to 3 March 2013.

The pop-up lounge will focus on Danish design and fashion. The theme is “Fashion Your Way”, and up to and during the city’s fashion week, exhibitions will feature the personal styles of six well-known Danish fashion icons using products sold at Copenhagen Airport Shopping Centre.

Said Copenhagen Airport Vice President Sales & Marketing Carsten Nørland: “Danish fashion and design is famous internationally, and during Copenhagen Fashion Week, people come to Copenhagen from far and near to get inspiration from and buy Danish fashionwear.

“Copenhagen Airport is the gateway to Copenhagen. We have therefore decided to show travellers Danish fashion and design and let them experience the intense, fascinating atmosphere of fashion week at the airport.”

The Danish fashion icons featured will be: Aura Dione, singer/songwriter; Christian Stadil, CEO of Hummel; Silas Adler, designer of Soulland; Trine Wackerhausen, the designer behind Wackerhaus; Frederik Lentz Andersen, Fashion Editor of Euroman; and Cecilie Christiansen, Editor-in-Chief of Elle.

In addition to fashion inspiration, the lounge also offers cocktails and canapés. It will be located immediately after the duty free store for a limited period up to and during Copenhagen Fashion Week, from 22 January to 3 March 2013.

Trine Wackerhausen, designer and owner of Wackerhaus: Wacherhausen is the woman behind Danish fashion label Wackerhaus, which presents two womenswear collections a year based on new, feminine styles with a dash of sartorial power and a hint of masculinity. Wackerhaus’ design combines expressive cuts and details with sleek and timeless silhouettes, always focusing on an innovative selection of high-quality materials and modern textiles.

Silas Adler, the designer behind Soulland: In 2002, Adler founded Danish menswear fashion label Soulland, which is one of the labels many people are watching. Initially, the design line consisted of T-shirts with prints targeting Copenhagen skaters, but Soulland has grown to become a world renowned classic men’s fashion label with a focus on aesthetic Scandinavian craftsmanship. Adler was named Designer of the Year at the 2012 Danish Fashion Awards ceremony.

Frederik Lentz Andersen, Fashion Editor of Euroman: Euroman magazine has been available for 20 years and has contributed to the contents and styles of the wardrobes of thousands of Danish men.

Cecilie Christiansen, Editor-in-Chief of ELLE: As the editor of the only international fashion magazine in Denmark, Christiansen knows the latest trends is described as a great source of inspiration for Danish women. She has been Editor-in-Chief of ELLE since 2008.

Exhibitors in weeks 8-9

Aura Dione, singer/songwriter: Since her debut album Columbine was released in 2008, Dione has enjoyed great success both in Denmark and internationally. She is best known for her three hits: Geronimo, Friends and In Love With The World. Dione’s references are a mix of everything from pop refrain, backbeats, quiet ballads, grand string arrangements, melting choral singing and new folk music.

Christian Stadil, CEO and owner of Hummel A/S: Stadil has been the CEO and owner of the Hummel clothing label since 2000. He has written a number of books on business philosophy and creativity, such as “Company Karma”, “Personal Karma – It’s never too late to become the person you thought you should be” (in Danish) and “Taking a bath with Picasso – How to become more creative” (in Danish). He also gives talks internationally on subjects such as management, branding, creativity, innovation and self development, which are partly based on his business philosophy “Company Karma”.
