There could only be one choice. I was staying in Craigellachie at The Craigellachie, so it simply had to be Craigellachie 13 year old. Now 13 might be unlucky for some but it’s not for this absolute gem, now owned by Bacardi.” link=”http://www.themoodieblog.com/spiritual-sprauchle-whisky-river-calls-away/”]

John Dewar & Sons’ Craigellachie 31 Years Old was awarded the World’s Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards (WWA) 2017 presented by Whisky Magazine.

Craigellachie 31 Years Old beat off competition from hundreds of entries from across the world and was awarded the top accolade on 30 March at the Waldorf Hotel in London.

Bacardi-owned John Dewar & Sons described the award as “highly notable for a whisky which has only been available in the market for less than three years.”

The single malt’s core business comes from global travel retail, although it is available in a select few domestic markets.

John Dewar & Sons Global Malts Ambassador Georgie Bell commented: “Since launching, Craigellachie has built up a huge reputation in the on-trade and with whisky connoisseurs – its sought out and admired – and the accolade is true testimony to this.

“It shows how far the Craigellachie brand has come in the last three years, and how from a production, maturation and blending perspective we really are second to none.”
