UAE. Tennis ace Andre Agassi has made a special visit to the award-winning Dubai Duty Free (DDF) at Dubai International Airport.
He is playing for the first time in the Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open tennis tournament, which is organised by the operator.
Agassi, who met DDF Managing Director Colm McLoughlin, spent an hour browsing through the shops and learnt about the operation which last year saw sales surpass US$500 million.
He was particularly interested in the Gifts from Dubai shop which stocks traditional Arabian memorabilia, the retailer said. He also looked at the Gold shop and lingered over the gold earrings.
McLoughlin said: “We are delighted that Andre took the time to visit the duty free and, as the owners and organisers of the Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open, we are thrilled that he is playing at the tournament for the first time.”
Andre Agassi, whose father is from Iran, also visited the Burj Al Arab Hotel where he practised with Roger Federer on a court on top of the hotel’s helipad, some 211 m above the ground.
