NETHERLANDS. Dufri International, the specialist supplier to duty free and travel retail markets worldwide, has launched two new products that combine compactness and power.
The Sony NW-HD1 Network Walkman Digital Music Player is described by Dufri as “one of the smallest, lightest and sexiest audio players yet from Sony”. Despite its tiny dimensions (89 x 62.1 x 13.8mm), it can store up to 13,000 songs – up to 900 CDs. The silver NW-HD1 weighs less than four ounces and has a 1.8in, 20GB hard drive.
It also houses an internal rechargeable battery that provides up to 30 hours of continuous playback. G-Sensor shock protection offers an advantage over traditional hard drives by safeguarding the player’s internal mechanisms to protect against impact and help to prevent a loss of data.
The NW-HD1 is supplied with a USB charging cradle and carrying pouch and is available for a domestic retail price of less than US$400.
The Sony VGF-AP1, VAIO Pocket Music Player is described as more than a music player. It combines a high-performance audio player, digital photo album and external hard disk drive.
The VGF-AP1 features a 2.2in colour LCD display, so full-colour photos and album covers can be displayed.
Easily gripped and operated with one hand, the VAIO Pocket player also sports a unique user interface dubbed Grid Sense. The Grid Sense touch pad is a grid of raised dots which work together like a PC touchpad. It allows for smooth and precise song selection and navigation.
A USB 2.0 cradle is supplied for easy PC connection, high-speed transfer of files and convenient and rapid charging. With a single charge of the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the user can set all activities to music with up to 20 hours of continuous playback. Depending on the model, up to 900 CDs (20GB) or 1,800 CDs (40GB) can be stored.
Dufri presented both products at the TFWA World Exhibition in October 2004.
