Shinsegae Duty Free champions K-beauty innovation with Medicube flagship launch in Myeongdong

Bathed in pink hues, the store occupies a prime position in the K-Beauty Zone, joining a standout category mix

SOUTH KOREA. Shinsegae Duty Free has unveiled the Medicube flagship store at its Myeongdong location, strengthening the K-Beauty portfolio within the 10th floor K-Beauty Zone.

Tapping into the at-home aesthetic trend, the grand opening extends Medicube’s digital-first success into a more immersive, high-touch physical retail experience.

With the beauty category expanding rapidly, Medicube is also keeping pace, as product developments and trends reshape Korea’s core beauty segment

The opening builds on the brand’s successful six-month pop-up trial at the store, held from 1 October 2024 to 8 April 2025, which delivered a +30% increase in average monthly sales and customer acquisition.

The launch is also driven by the growing popularity of what the retailer describes as “investment-grade beauty”, as consumers increasingly turn to advanced technology for professional-level results.

This rising demand is also reflected in Medicube’s digital growth, with the brand’s sales surging +230% year-on-year last year following its launch on Shinsegae Duty Free’s online platform in 2024.

Curated for both gifting and personal use, the store spotlights travel retail-exclusive offerings

The brand has gained significant popularity among a diverse global audience, driven by strong demand in markets such as China (including Taiwan), USA and Indonesia.

The flagship store showcases Medicube’s full AGE-R device range and skincare essentials, anchored by the global debut of the Booster Pro X2.

Positioned as the first major successor to the best-selling Booster Pro in over two years, the X2 represents the next evolution in the range, featuring:

  • Dual-Care technology: Simultaneously targets the skin’s surface and deeper layers for maximum absorption.
  • AI-Driven personalisation: Offers seven distinct treatment modes tailored to individual skin needs.
  • Global accessibility: Enhanced ergonomics with multi-language voice guidance to cater to international travellers.

A Shinsegae Duty Free spokesperson said, “We are seeing a clear evolution where digital demand is fuelling a hunger for in-person, tactile experiences.

“By bringing Medicube’s cutting-edge tech into a physical space, we’re not just selling products – we’re offering a global audience the chance to interact with the future of skincare. We will continue to expand our experiential content to stay ahead of global beauty trends.”
