Duty Free World Council launches consultation on protocol for industry recovery

INTERNATIONAL. The Duty Free World Council (DFWC) has launched a consultation seeking industry input to a global Recovery Framework Protocol, as travel retail businesses prepare to reopen once the COVID-19 crisis eases.

As reported last week, the initiative aims to guide a common industry approach to reopening retail outlets worldwide.

The DFWC said: “Ensuring consistency across duty free & travel retail locations worldwide is critical to gaining permission to re-open, to restoring staff and customer confidence, and is fundamental to sales recovery.”

The Council is seeking industry input to the Protocol and has created a questionnaire, posted on the DFWC website at this link – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B3BHKMR –  for companies to make their contributions.

The Council urges all industry stakeholders to assist in the creation of the Protocol by completing the survey by Friday 15 May.

Once completed, the DFWC Academy will develop an industry training programme to facilitate implementation of the protocols.

The Recovery Framework Protocol is supported by industry associations including ASUTIL, APTRA, ETRC, FDFA, IAADFS, MEADFA and TFWA.
