FRANCE. Dutyfly has launched a new type of inflight duty free sales trolley which it says provides a more fitting showcase for brands and products.
The inflight concessionaire said three sides of the ‘Safe & Light’ trolley can be decorated, offering the potential for brand advertising.

“In a move that is at once civic, social and cost-effective, we have a new idea for our airline customers, the ‘Safe & Light’ trolley,” said Dutyfly Director of Operations Roger Abi Jaber.
“We want to replace the dull logistics containers currently used with a sales showcase worthy of the products we offer our customers.”

The trolley was developed in collaboration with industrial partners Aerocat and Adelec. It is said to offer advantages in ecology, cost-effectiveness, aesthetics, manoeuvrability and property security.
The Lagardère Travel Retail and Servair joint venture company said the trolley weighed 10 kilos less than the classic version, and so was easier to handle for crew. It also offers fuel savings due to the lighter load.
A new opening system based on custom badges for each crew member is said to enable precise traceability, enhancing security.
Dutyfly said 1,000 Safe & Light trolleys are already in operation on Air France, Air Caraïbes and Luxair flights.
