Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic climbs +1.8% in February

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport welcomed 3.7 million passengers last month, an increase of +1.8% on the same month in 2013, according to Fraport Group.

The airport’s passenger traffic for the first two months of the year reached 7.7 million, up by +2.7%.

Eastern European routes witnessed the biggest increases (+12.4% in February, +10.9% year to date) while intercontinental routes suffered (-2.9% in February, -1.9% year to date).

Meanwhile Fraport’s majority-owned airports continued to grow. Lima Jorge Chávez Airport in Peru served nearly 1.2 million passengers, a +3.7% rise, while Varna and Burgas airports in Bulgaria together received 27,852 passengers, a gain of +7.2%.

More than 2.1 million passengers used Xi’an Airport in China, an increase of +7.4% percent year-on-year. St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport recorded double-digit growth, up +17.3% to 752,701 passengers. And Antalya Airport in Turkey grew by +3.1% to 646,947 passengers.
