Gebr. Heinemann has teamed up with ClimatePartner to introduce a new supplier enablement programme. The programme will help suppliers build Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) capabilities and improve transparency around product-level emissions across the travel retail supply chain.
The free programme provides participating suppliers with training, methodologies and practical guidance on the measurement, understanding and management of product-related greenhouse gas emissions. It also enables suppliers to independently collect and share product-level emissions data.
ClimatePartner will deliver the programme, providing expertise in carbon accounting, supplier training and operational implementation.
The initiative forms part of Gebr. Heinemann’s wider sustainability strategy to increase transparency around Scope 3 emissions and support supply chain decarbonisation in collaboration with its brand partners.
The travel retailer has committed to Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated climate targets and said it once again met its decarbonisation targets in 2025. As the majority of emissions generated by retail businesses occur within their supply chains, Gebr. Heinemann said strengthening emissions data and collaboration with suppliers is key to identifying further opportunities for reduction.

The programme is centred on measuring PCFs, which quantify the greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product throughout its lifecycle. PCFs offer a consistent data foundation for identifying emissions hotspots, improving products and processes, and supporting more informed decision-making across the value chain.
The initiative builds on the work of the Travel Retail Data Innovation Group (TRDIG); the industry-wide collaboration established to standardise data exchange across travel retail.
The underlying data infrastructure is based on established GS1 standards for product data exchange and enables efficient data sharing without requiring suppliers to adopt specific software solutions.
“Decarbonising supply chains can only be achieved together with our suppliers and business partners,” commented Gebr. Heinemann Chief Commercial Officer Inken Callsen.
“That is why we are pursuing a collaborative approach that builds capabilities, lowers barriers and creates the foundation for shared progress. Our goal is not to create additional requirements, but to actively support our partners on this journey.”
Registration is now open and participation is free of charge. For more information about onboarding and for registration, visit ClimatePartner. ✈
