INTERNATIONAL. Aer Rianta International has extended its Joy of Giving seasonal campaign beyond its Irish stores for the first time. The campaign, which started at The Loop at Dublin and Cork airports last year, has been rolled out to operations at Larnaka, Pafos, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa and Winnipeg airports.
The Frontier Award-winning campaign focuses on the two messages of value and ease of shopping to attract Christmas gift shoppers, and in particular highlights the retailer’s Shop and Collect service.
ARI Head of Global Customer Strategy Nicola Wells said: “Through our extensive research we were well aware of the many similarities in the purchasing behaviour of our customers in these locations, and that gifting is a key reason for purchase especially at Christmas.”

In Cyprus, CTC-ARI has adopted all elements of the campaign and has reported positive results so far. CTC-ARI General Manager Garrett Coogan said: “The focal point of the promotion is in our Sense of Place area and we have adopted a cross-category approach. Customers can purchase great value gifts from all categories in the one place, making shopping easier than ever.
“The display has enticed passengers to slow down to browse and in many cases shop. We are now achieving steady volumes of incremental sales to passengers who may otherwise have headed straight for their gate.”
In Canada the retailer has adopted a French translation, la joie d’offrir. General Manager Jacques Dagenais said the simple concept had worked well across different languages, and had contributed to the festive atmosphere of the shops.
