Heathrow Airport Holdings sells Stansted to Manchester Airports

UK. Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited has agreed to sell its 100% interest in Stansted Airport Limited to Manchester Airports Group for £1,500 million (US$2,380 million) in cash, payable in full at closing.

Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited Chief Executive Colin Matthews said: “Stansted Airport and its people have been part of our company for a long time. We are proud of its achievements.

“We wish the new owners every success and are confident the airport will continue to flourish. We will continue to focus on improving Heathrow, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports.”

Stansted Airport is London’s third busiest airport and the UK’s fourth busiest. It is London’s base for low-cost airlines. Approximately 17.5 million passengers and 131,400 flights from 14 airlines pass through Stansted every year, serving more than 150 destinations in 32 countries.

Manchester Airports Group Plc is the country’s largest UK-owned airport operator. Its three airports – Manchester, East Midlands and Bournemouth -serve a total of over 23.9 million passengers every year.

Manchester Airports Group also includes the commercial property company MAG Developments, which has a £350 million portfolio across the three airports and is leading the £650 million major Enterprise Zone development, Airport City, at Manchester.
