Heavyweight ground transport panel announced for AAA Retail & Commercial Forum

AUSTRALASIA. Leading transport companies will take part in a special Ground Transport panel session at the Australian Airports Association Retail & Commercial Forum on 17-19 July in Brisbane.

Organised by a partnership between the Australian Airports Association (AAA), The Mercurius Group and The Moodie Davitt Report, the Forum brings together all the key players in the non-aeronautical sector. These include airports from Australia and New Zealand, duty free and speciality retailers, food & beverage operators, foreign exchange operators, advertising concessionaires, ground transport providers and other advisers and suppliers.

The Ground Transport panel comprises representatives from the top ground transport generators in car parking, car rental and ride-share respectively, as well as representation from the airports sector, including:

  • Uber ANZ, Airports & Travel Senior Manager Simon Schenkel
  • Eoin MacNeill – Hertz, VP APAC Eoin MacNeill
  • A representative from Wilson Parking;
  • Sydney Airport Head of Commercial Transport Kenn Langcake
  • The Mercurius Group Senior Consultant Diane Owens (moderator)
The 2023 Retail & Commercial Forum is hosted by Brisbane Airport

Commenting on the announcement, AAA Chief Executive James Goodwin said: “Ground transport is growing in importance year after year to meet changing customer expectations so it’s vital to have these discussion and such high level representatives as part of the Retail & Commercial Forum.”

The Mercurius Group Managing Director Ivo Favotto said: “For regional airports, there is plenty happening in the ground transport space to talk about. Car parking, car rental and ride share are contestable and often face stiff competition from off-airport operations and disruptors.”

The Moodie Davitt Report President Dermot Davitt said: “The commercial importance of ground transport operations is often overlooked in many industry events and conferences. We are delighted to be leading the way to pioneer their inclusion in this event.”

Importantly, all three industry participants on the panel – Uber, Hertz and Wilson Parking are also sponsoring various elements of the Forum. This highlights the value they place on the event as a way of connecting with many airport partners in one place.

Uber and Hertz will also offer delegates a range of exciting services and offers during the Forum.

The event has had strong partnership support from the airport duty free and food & beverage communities in the region, with more partnerships to be announced shortly.
