CHINA. In a landmark occasion, Wangfujing Duty Free today soft launched its store at Harbin Taiping International Airport.
As reported, the powerful department store to travel retailer was awarded the departures duty-free contract at the Heilongjiang province’s gateway in late 2024 following an open tender.
Harbin Taiping International is one of three major international airports in Northeast China and serves as Heilongjiang Province’s premier entry and exit point.
Wangfujing Duty Free said: “The opening of the airport duty-free shop has brought a new shopping experience to the majority of outbound passengers, and also added a strong service touch to the Harbin aviation hub.”
As the centrepoint of the Northeast Asia Air Corridor, the airport enjoys a sizeable international flight network, including major cities in Russia, as well as East Asia, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other regions.
The 323.84sq m Harbin Airport Wangfujing Duty Free Shop is located within the core of the international departures zone. Its design draws on Harbin’s renowned ice and snow culture.
The store offers a wide product variety, bringing together many internationally renowned brands across cosmetics, perfumes, liquor, food, bags and other categories to meet the needs of business and leisure travellers.
The store is served by a highly trained professional shopping guide team, supplemented by a strong digital offering.
To drive sales during the upcoming Chinese New Year/Spring Festival and the Harbin Asian Winter Games (7-14 February), Wangfujing Duty Free has launched several national fashion products and promotional activities to enrich the shopping experience.
Adhering to a mantra of ‘international standard, domestic first-class’, Wangfujing Duty Free pledged to create a new benchmark for duty-free and travel retail in Northeast China.
