HMSHost and JQ Enterprises land US$14 million F&B contract at Myrtle Beach International

US. Global restaurateur HMSHost and partner JQ Enterprises have won a five-year, US$14 million contract to operate two new food & beverage concessions at Myrtle Beach International Airport.

The new openings – Starbucks and The Grand Strand Bar – are scheduled for next spring, and will be HMSHost’s first foray into delivering F&B concepts in South Carolina.

HMSHost and the Horry County Department of Airports are collaborating on the development of the bar concept, The Grand Strand Bar. South Carolina beers along with well-known national beers are on the drinks list and the bar will also include an all-day menu. This will feature light breakfast items, snacks and sandwiches to eat on site or take-away.

HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Bryan Loden said: “We are thrilled to partner with Myrtle Beach International Airport for the first time and look forward to providing an excellent food and drink experience for travellers flying in and out of the beloved Grand Strand area.

“The upcoming Starbucks and The Grand Strand Bar mark the perfect balance of choice for Myrtle Beach visitors to recharge before their flight, whether they’ve just come from a week at the beach or spent quality time on the links.”

A new Starbucks – recently rated as the 48th biggest brand in the world by global brand consultancy Interbrand – is scheduled to open in spring next year

Horry County Director of Airports Scott Van Moppes welcomed the addition of the two new concessions. He added: “In an airport environment it is important to provide a variety of options to the travelling public, which includes a mix of international, national and local concepts.

“It is our goal to exceed our passengers’ expectations and, with the addition of these two new concepts, it is our hope that the MYR [Myrtle Beach International] experience will be more memorable than ever before.”
