GERMANY. Casualfood has strengthened its food & beverage offer at Düsseldorf Airport with the opening of the first Slim Chickens outlet at a German airport.
Located in Terminal C’s Gate C departure area, the launch marks the second Slim Chickens franchise restaurant in Germany and extends the US fast-casual brand’s presence in the market following its 2024 debut in Berlin.

The Düsseldorf Airport restaurant spans approximately 120sq m and accommodates 70 guests.
Designed in line with Slim Chickens’ global brand identity, the space features wood-effect finishes, red accents and country and blues-inspired design elements, with a mix of diner-style seating and bar tables.

The menu centres on freshly prepared, hand-breaded chicken tenders and wings, supported by a range of 11 signature dipping sauces, alongside sandwiches, wraps, salads and Southern-inspired sides, including Texas toast, fried pickles and crispy fried onions.
A takeaway offer is also available for departing passengers.

Casualfood CEO Jörn Niewiadomsky said, “Slim Chickens is ideally suited to the airport environment. The concept combines authentic Southern cuisine with fast service and consistent quality.
“The dishes are freshly prepared for each guest; at the same time, clear, streamlined processes, self-order terminals and app-based ordering ensure efficient service. The attractive value for money also makes it particularly family-friendly.”
The opening forms part of a broader refresh of the Düsseldorf Airport’s food & beverage proposition, which has seen several new concepts introduced in recent weeks.

Düsseldorf Airport Head of Commercial Anja Dauser said, “Quality and speed – Slim Chickens is a very good fit for Düsseldorf Airport and the direction we are taking with our gastronomy offering: more international, more diverse and even more tailored to the varied needs of our guests.
“In recent weeks, we have welcomed several new concepts to the terminal. Now, our partner Casualfood is making a statement with this well-known brand to round off this spring’s wave of openings.
“We are particularly pleased about this debut: this is the first time Slim Chickens has been represented at a German airport. This underlines the appeal of our location. Further new openings will follow in the coming winter season.”
Founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003, Slim Chickens has expanded to more than 300 restaurants worldwide, with particularly strong representation in the UK and Middle East markets.
