Hong Kong International Airport passenger traffic rises to 5.74 million in March amid Middle East rerouting

HONG KONG, CHINA. Hong Kong International Airport handled 5.74 million passengers in March, marking a +19.6% year-on-year increase, driven by a sharp rise in transfer and transit traffic as recent tensions in the Middle East prompted notable growth on routes to and from Europe.

Flight movements rose +2.7% to 34,100 during the month.

The airport also reported sustained momentum in traffic to and from Southeast Asia and the Mainland China.

The strong March performance contributed to a +14.3% year-on-year increase in first-quarter passenger traffic to 16.67 million, while flight movements rose +4.9% to 100,645.

On a rolling 12-month basis, the airport served 63.05 million passengers, representing double-digit growth of +14.8%, while flight movements climbed +7.1% to 399,450.
