House of Prince enters new sub-category – 01/11/07

DENMARK. House of Prince is launching two new products in the additive-free sub-category for Scandinavia’s largest cigarette brand, Prince.

In addition to the contents being without additives, the two variants have new flavours and are being presented in a fresh design, the company said.

Indian Summer and First Cut will be available in duty free shops from Summer 2008.

Commenting on how the new products are made, Kristian Kornerup Jensen, Vice-President of the Exporting Department at House of Prince, said: “Aside from the tobacco not containing any additives, it’s the mix of tobacco that gives it its taste. The tobacco’s cultivation, harvesting and ripening can almost be called a science and forms a very exciting process that means a great deal towards achieving the end product.

“We have worked long and hard to find the right mix of tobacco for these new products and have now found two new flavours that were warmly welcomed in tests conducted among Scandinavian smokers.”

Indian Summer incorporates warm colours and owes its soft flavour to tobacco that comes from the seedling’s upper leaf, which has been allowed to ripen in the sun for as long as possible.

First Cut, packaged in light green, fresh colours, has a soft and round flavour garnered from tobacco that comes from the seedling’s lower leaf, which ripens and is cultivated earlier.

“Products without additives are well-known among many other groups of products and have shown to have a high interest among consumers. Thus, it’s only natural for Prince to take this step and be able to offer this type of product,” said Kornerup Jensen.

Indian Summer and First Cut will be priced on a level with existing Prince variations and those of other brands in the premium segment.
