Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.
CAMBODIA. Today’s images, courtesy of Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia Commercial Director Janet Malaga on LinkedIn, are exactly the celebratory type of shots we like to show in this column. And besides that, writes Martin Moodie, I have special motivation for wanting to salute the great team featured.

The photos show Lagardére Travel Retail Cambodia proudly celebrating the operation’s first anniversary of retail and food & beverage ventures, which include Aelia Duty Free, The Gallery In, Eye Love and Marché.
As reported, Lagardère Travel Retail, in partnership with HSC Group, has a 12-year contract with Cambodia Airport Investment Company to manage retail and dining at Techo International Airport, which serves the capital Phnom Penh.
The airport, considered a landmark symbol of Cambodia’s aviation and tourism ambitions, is the country’s largest aviation infrastructure project and one of the world’s biggest airports by land area. It has capacity for 13 million passengers annually in its first phase – rising to 30 million in later phases.

But as mentioned, I have another reason to give a big shout out to the Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia management and crew. For earlier this year, the team en masse lent incredibly committed support to #KickCancerThon, the travel retail visibility and fundraising campaign for cancer research.
#KickCancerThon was the brainchild of the late Sinead Moodie, my daughter and at the time of the campaign’s launch Chief Operating Officer for The Moodie Davitt Report. Tragically, Sinead lost her battle for life on 1 February, the very day the campaign officially kicked off.
To see both Sinead’s vision and her memory honoured in such exhilirating and committed fashion by Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia means a lot to me, The Moodie Davitt Report and to cancer research. Below we present a flashback of their efforts.
Those tastebud-tempting cakes pictured above were richly deserved for all members of an outstanding organisation. Plenty more sweet moments lie ahead. ✈
