Images of the Day: Avolta’s Whisky Social Club celebrates the ‘dreamers, creators, aficionados, doers and pourers’

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

INTERNATIONAL. What if whisky wasn’t just a drink but a journey?

That’s the question asked – and answered with a deliciously emphatic flourish –  in today’s selection for our popular Images of the Day column in association with Duty Free Global.

Avolta put together this ravishing video to showcase the experience and reach of its Whisky Social Club (WSC) campaign unveiled earlier this year at selected locations worldwide.

Whisky Social Club allows Club Avolta members globally to enjoy exclusive experiences from masterclasses to personalised bottles.

The travel retailer commented on LinkedIn: “A huge thank you to all the dreamers, creators, aficionados, doers and pourers – from our marketing to frontline teams, and to our outstanding brand partners – who made our inaugural WSC such a raving success.

“Here’s to many more tastings, stories and moments shared around the glass.”

As reported, the May launch of Whisky Social Club at Heathrow Airport, one of the key locations, featured whisky-pairings curated by sector expert and influencer Alwynne Gwilt, popularly known as Miss Whisky.

Travellers could also try whisky-themed dishes and discover Heathrow-exclusive products.

A feast for the senses: Inventive whisky food pairings and cocktails were on offer at Heathrow Airport in partnership with (clockwise from top left) Big Smoke Taphouse & Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay Plane Food, Pilots Bar & Kitchen and Caviar House & Prunier

At the  time of Whisky Social Club’s launch, Heathrow Retail Director Fraser Brown (in deference to whose proud Scottish heritage and his undoubted status as a key retail influencer, we should perhaps call Mr Whisky) put it nicely when he said: “Our vision for Whisky Social Club was to bring to life the timelessness and character of whisky for passengers travelling through Heathrow.”

We love the concept of timelessness, which not only evokes the heritage of whisky but also of the delightfully escapist mood that travel provokes for many.
