Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

JAPAN. Today’s memorable images come in video form from the esteemed Osaka umeshu producer Choya as it proudly celebrates its 112th anniversary.

A regular medal winner at the most prestigious spirits competitions, Choya enjoys widespread distribution across the travel retail channel

Writing on LinkedIn, General Manager Seiji Susuki comments, “For 112 years, our journey has been made possible by Ume farmers, business partners, colleagues and everyone around the world who has enjoyed and supported Choya.

“As we carry this history into the future, your continued love and support will be our greatest strength.

Thousands of Ume fruit are loaded into one of the giant tanks at Choya production headquarters. The company specialises in high-quality Nanko Ume (notable for being large in size, with thick flesh and high in organic acids) from the Kishu region.

“Thank you for being part of The Choya. We hope you will continue this journey with us for many years to come.”

We hope so too. For The Choya has earned a richly deserved place at travel retail’s top table, the combination of its rich heritage, unfailing commitment to the land (and to the fruit it bears) and quality of  product making it a must-have proposition for retailers and travelling consumers alike.
