Images of the Day: Guwahati Airport gives digital advertising a fresh spin

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

Designed to complement the terminal’s contemporary architecture, the elliptical LED wall adds a dynamic digital element while giving brands a high-impact platform to connect with passengers in a busy arrivals environment

INDIA. “Where architecture meets innovation, brands get noticed.”

That concept comes into startling focus in today’s image selection, shared by Adani Airport Advertisement Lead Rupan Mazumdar, putting the spotlight on the elliptical video wall in the arrivals area of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (Guwahati).

The screen offers a dynamic platform for destination storytelling, with the ‘200 Years of Assam Tea’ campaign demonstrating the potential to spotlight local heritage

Designed as more than a digital display, the installation creates an immersive backdrop for brands to connect with arriving passengers.

The wall features an expansive curved format and dynamic visuals, creating a high-impact digital presence and an engaging brand experience for travellers.

Mazumdar said, “At Guwahati Airport, we continue to explore innovative ways to connect brands, people and experiences through impactful airport advertising.”

Inaugurated in December 2025 and opened for commercial operations in February, the airport has increased annual passenger capacity to 13.1 million, reinforcing Guwahati’s role as a key aviation gateway connecting India’s Northeastern region with South and Southeast Asia.

Designed by Indian architect Nuru Karim, the terminal reflects Assam’s cultural heritage, including the kopou phool and traditional bamboo craftsmanship, with more than 140 metric tonnes of bamboo incorporated into the design.

The design won the International Architecture Award 2025 and a place on the Prix Versailles 2026 World’s Most Beautiful Airports list.
