Images of the Day: Kuala Lumpur International Airport opens a portal to Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

MALAYSIA. Today’s image selection comes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where Malaysia Airports has unveiled a whimsical activation called ‘Alice’s Adventures: A Magical Christmas’.

The campaign, running until 31 December in Terminal 1, is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and created in collaboration with the British Library.

The Cheshire Cat’s mischievous grin greets travellers at the entrance of the Queen’s Rose Tunnel, which features illustrated scenes from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Below, Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager of Commercial Services Hani Ezra Hussin is among the airport company leaders playing a part in the experience.

The scene comes to life with costumed characters including Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and her loyal card servants.

Travellers are invited to tumble down the rabbit hole with the Gigantic Tea-Cup Ride, a fairground classic suitable for all ages. Another highlight is the Rabbit Hole Kaleidoscope, a Tumblr-worthy setup that encourages visitors to take photographs.

Queen’s Rose Tunnel provides an immersive walkthrough experience, adorned with red roses and thematic details. ✈
