AUSTRALIA. Today’s images are courtesy of Heinemann Oceania, showcasing the recently launched MECCA store in Sydney Airport Terminal 1, where interactive experiences complement the Australian retailer’s extensive beauty offer.
Spanning 285sq m, the standalone boutique brings a well-established domestic airport beauty player into the travel retail mix, enhancing the airport’s growing beauty offer.

Designed with the international traveller in mind, the store brings together beauty discovery, services and travel retail-exclusive (TREX) products in an open airside format, anchored by The Beauty Lounge, a dedicated hub for pre-flight discovery, beauty treatments and pampering.
Services include express LED and hydration treatments, pre-flight de-puffing and sculpting, relaxing rituals, fragrance discovery and foundation matching.

The wider offer brings together a comprehensive assortment of international beauty brands, including Rhode, Diptyque, Summer Fridays, Byredo and Emma Lewisham, alongside MECCA Cosmetica, MECCA Max and kit.

For travellers, the assortment includes MECCA Travel Minis and travel-exclusive kits and MECCA Max sets, including the In Flight Calm Ritual Set, In Flight Sleep Ritual Set and Dew Crew – Hydrating Skin Essentials Set.
The store also extends MECCA’s Beauty Loop rewards programme to the airport, allowing members to collect their Beauty Loop boxes in-store, while tax-free shopping is available across a curated selection.

The concept has been tailored to the international airside environment, using an open, wall-less format to create clear sightlines and an intuitive flow between products, discovery and services.
The design blends MECCA’s signature brand identity with Sydney-inspired elements, combining vivid colours and bright finishes with sculptural curved ribbon structures inspired by the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
As reported, the opening forms part of an 18-month joint initiative between Heinemann Oceania and Sydney Airport to transform the duty-free shopping experience at Australia’s leading international gateway.
The move marks the popular Australian beauty retailer’s first entry into an international terminal, joining Victoria’s Secret, which is expanding into Australian duty-free, and fast-growing beauty brand Aesop, which recently made its Sydney Airport boutique debut in Terminal 1. ✈
