Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.
INDIA. Our selection today marks a brilliant celebration in every sense of an auspicious occasion in the country’s history, India’s 75th Republic Day.
As the name suggests, 26 January commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect and the country became a republic.
As the nation joyously commemorates this landmark, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has joined the party with a spectacularly colourful makeover.
As the images show, the airport is adorned in vibrant tricolour, its structures lit up in the vibrant hues of India’s national flag – deep saffron (kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion.
The extraordinary impact is designed to capture the essence of unity and happiness that underpins Republic Day. ✈

Footnote: The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) will host the APTRA India 2024 Conference in Delhi on 20-21 March. The conference programme will focus on travel retail’s growing importance within India’s surging aviation and airport infrastructure growth and the burgeoning significance of the Indian travelling consumer to the industry.
