Incheon International Airport breaks passenger traffic record in 2015

Incheon International saw its largest number of annual passengers since opening in 2001

SOUTH KOREA. A record number of passengers passed through Incheon International Airport in 2015, with a +8.3% increase seen over the previous year to 49.2 million.

Operator Incheon International Airport Corporation was quoted in the Korea IT Times as saying the figure was the highest since the airport opened in 2001.

There were 7.6 million transfer passengers last year, an increase of +5.5% compared with 2014. An upturn in transfer passengers from Japan, China and Oceania was largely responsible for the overall growth.

The corporation also told the news outlet that the number of transfer passengers from European routes was down, in large part “due to IS terror”.
