USA/INTERNATIONAL. Plug and Play, a Silicon Valley-based innovation platform for start-ups, corporations and investors, has selected airport app Flio to join its Travel & Hospitality accelerator programme.
“We are excited to be part of this elite selection of travel start-ups,” said Flio founder and CEO Stephan Uhrenbacher.
“Being a part of the Plug and Play community recognises the value that Flio brings to travellers, airports, travel retail operators, luxury brands and airlines.”
Uhrenbacher noted that major players in the global travel and airline industry such as Star Alliance, Delta Air Lines, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines are corporate sponsors of Plug and Play Silicon Valley.
“We are looking forward to developing creative ways to distribute airport information to their passengers worldwide,” he said.
Plug and Play was set up in 2006 and it now has programmes in 21 locations globally. The platform’s aim is to give start-ups the necessary resources to succeed in Silicon Valley and beyond.
Companies in the Plug and Play community have raised over US$7 billion in funding, with successful portfolio exits including Danger, Dropbox, Lending Club, PayPal, SoundHound, and Zoosk.
