Swiss herbal confectionery brand Ricola is celebrating Earth Day (22 April) with a vibrant homepage makeover of The Moodie Davitt Report and an elegant treatment of our mobile website.
At the heart of the makeover is Ricola’s network of publicly accessible herb gardens across Switzerland, alongside continued advancements in responsible sourcing across its agricultural supply chain.

Situated in scenic locations including Zermatt, Pontresina, Kandersteg, Nenzlingen and Trogberg, the herb gardens serve as living embodiments of Ricola’s Alpine heritage.
Designed as multi-sensory environments, the gardens encourage visitors to see, smell and touch the herbs, transforming product storytelling into a tangible, experiential journey.

Each garden features distinctive characteristics, from extensive mint collections spanning more than 30 varieties to high-altitude Alpine gardens located at elevations exceeding 1,700 metres.
Located along popular walking routes, the gardens provide accessible, family-friendly environments that invite both travellers and local communities to pause, recharge and interact with nature.

In addition, educational elements embedded throughout the gardens reinforce Ricola’s heritage, detailing the properties, aromas and traditional uses of its herbs.
Alongside this experiential focus, Ricola continues to strengthen its sustainability strategy, particularly in relation to ingredient sourcing.
Since 2023, the company has been transitioning towards sourcing sugar from IP-SUISSE-certified farmers, recognising sugar and isomalt as its highest-volume raw materials.

IP-SUISSE farms operate without fungicides and insecticides, restrict herbicide use and actively promote biodiversity through insect habitats and hedgerows, while also contributing to broader climate protection goals.
The long-term partnership is designed to balance environmental responsibility with supply chain resilience. The company is targeting 80% conversion to IP-SUISSE farms by 2030.
According to Ricola, the IP-SUISSE partnership delivers tangible benefits for farmers including stable demand, fair pricing structures and incentives to adopt more sustainable practices.
In return, Ricola secures a reliable local Swiss supply base while supporting biodiversity, soil health and emissions reduction.
In addition, Ricola is facilitating knowledge-sharing between herb growers and sugar beet farmers, promoting agricultural practices that enhance ecosystem health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its network. ✈
